The 2010 Hyundai Genesis receives a ‘Top Safety Pick’ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Jacksonville Hyundai dealer reports. The award recognizes vehicles that earn the top rating of “good” for front, side, rollover, and rear crash protection.  Additionally, to earn a “TOP SAFETY PICK” the vehicle must have Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a standard feature on the Genesis.

Maintaining Hyundai’s emphasis on delivering leading safety technology, Genesis boasts world-class active and passive safety features to help both prevent accidents and maximize the wellbeing of its occupants in the event of a collision. The Genesis continues the Hyundai tradition of standardizing key life-saving safety technology, and includes standard features like ESC, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), eight airbags and electronic active head restraints.

“Genesis was designed to be one of the safest vehicles on the road and includes features such as ESC and Hyundai’s first electronic active front head restraint system, which helps prevent whiplash,” said Derek Joyce, manager of product planning, Hyundai Motor America.

While the 2009 Genesis model was also named as an IIHS “TOP SAFETY PICK,” the standards were raised even higher for 2010, with a roof strength test added to the qualifications. According to the new guidelines, roofs must be more than double the strength of current federal requirements in order to better maintain vehicle integrity in the event of a rollover accident. Hyundai made adjustments to the Genesis roof structure to improve protection in rollover crashes and meet this new standard.

Hyundai of St Augustine has been the area’s go-to destination for the largest selection of Hyundai cars, with sales at the Florida Hyundai dealer outpacing production.  According to owner Andrew DiFeo, the 2010 Genesis has been a top pick among families looking for style, sophistication and safety.  “Families want a vehicle that is safe, but they don’t want to forgo style and comfort,” says DiFeo. “The Genesis offers premium comfort with a spacious cabin and luxury amenities along with safety features one would expect from a rugged SUV.”

Hyundai Motor America revealed its April sales set an all-time record for the month with 44,023 vehicles sold, as announced by St. Augustine Hyundai dealer, Hyundai of St Augustine. The record-setting sales mark a 30 percent increase over last April’s results and the 16th consecutive month with increased market share compared to last year.

The Sonata and Tucson were key models in the impressive month for Hyundai, with sales increases of 57 and 271 percent, respectively. The safe and attractive Santa Fe was up 59 percent, while the Genesis had a nine percent gain and its 10th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases.

“For the second straight month, our all-new Sonata is the third-best selling mid-size car in the country in retail sales, well ahead of strong rivals such as Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu and Ford Fusion,” said Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America’s vice present of national sales. “We’re glad to see Sonata’s unique combination of great design and segment-leading 35 mpg fuel economy is resonating with America’s car buyers.”
